WASH
HERCO focusing Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) are
critical components in the lives of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). The importance
of WASH to IDPs includes:
Preventing Disease: Access to clean water and proper
sanitation facilities helps prevent the spread of waterborne diseases such as
cholera, dysentery, and typhoid, which are common in crowded and unsanitary
conditions.
Ensuring Dignity and Privacy: Adequate sanitation
facilities provide privacy and safety, particularly for women and girls,
reducing the risk of gender-based violence.
Promoting Hygiene: Handwashing with soap, clean
water, and hygiene education are essential to prevent the spread of infections
and diseases.
Improving Overall Health: Better WASH conditions lead
to improved overall health, reducing the burden on healthcare facilities and
allowing IDPs to focus on rebuilding their lives.
